Who we treat
Individuals
We offer individual psychotherapy and skills training to pre-adolescent, adolescent, and adult clients. Individual sessions are focused on enhancing the client’s quality of life by helping them apply the skills they are learning to specific events causing distress. Along with Mindfulness, clients will learn skills to regulate emotions, tolerate distress, and improve relationships. We also offer individual DBT skills training to clients that would like to remain with their current therapist.
Couples
Research shows that couples wait an average of 6 years before seeking help for problems in their relationship. We offer DBT skills training to couples that want to have better communication and less fights, reduce stress in the relationship, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional connectivity. Your therapist will demonstrate and teach dialectics, validation, and problem-solving strategies to help strengthen the relationship between you and your partner.
Parents
Parenting a teenager has it challenges, and when your teen is struggling emotionally it can seem overwhelming. As teenagers begin to assert their independence they may exhibit behaviors that go beyond what is considered typical. You may be experiencing endless fights, poor communication, and defiance. You may also be living in fear of your teen’s mood swings, anger, and threats. Our services are offered to parents that are looking for support and guidance around contingency management. You do not have to have a child involved in treatment at Ann Arbor Behavioral Services to receive services as a parent.
